Lausanne has a population of about 420,000 and is situated in the French-speaking region of Vaud, Switzerland. It is home to the EPFL, BĂ©jart Ballet, and the International Olympic Committee. The old city has medieval, shop-lined streets and a 12th-century Gothic cathedral with an ornate facade. The 19th-century Palais de Rumine houses fine art and science museums. More information on Lausanne can be found at Lausanne-tourisme.ch.

The EPFL campus in Lausanne is readily accessible by road or train from Geneva International Airport (GVA), which serves as a hub for Swiss International Air Lines and easyJet Switzerland. Geneva features a route network of flights mainly to European metropolitan and leisure destinations as well as some long-haul routes to North America, China and the Middle East.

Training workshops will take place at the Experimental Museology lab, which is just off the main campus.
