Travel

Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.

Lausanne has a population of about 420,000 and is situated in the French-speaking region of Vaud, Switzerland. It is home to the EPFL, Béjart Ballet, and the International Olympic Committee. The old city has medieval, shop-lined streets and a 12th-century Gothic cathedral with an ornate facade. The 19th-century Palais de Rumine houses fine art and science museums. The EPFL campus in Lausanne is readily accessible by road or train from Geneva International Airport (GVA), which serves as a hub for Swiss International Air Lines and easyJet Switzerland. Geneva features a route network of flights mainly to European metropolitan and leisure destinations as well as some long-haul routes to North America, China and the Middle East.

Training workshops will take place at the Experimental Museology lab, which is just off the main campus.

Visa requirements

Students who are not European citizens may require a short-term visa to enter Switerland Entry requirements for short-term stays in Switzerland

Please note that you do NOT need to apply for a student visa. The CIDOC Summer School is "a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree". A short-term tourist visa is normally sufficient.

Accommodation

On campus accommodation is available at Les Estudiantines to the South of the campus, and costs (370 CHF per week). This includes a single room, bedlinen, shared living area, refrigerator, microwave, free Internet access and laundry facilities.
